About Me

Hi, I’m Rei – a photographer, writer, and artist.

I’ve lived just about half my life in the city in Japan and half here in beautiful Hawai’i. I enjoyed the big city life growing up in Yokohama, but thrive in Hawai’i now for it’s laidback attitude, kind people, and of course being on “Hawaiian time”. I’ve been many things, most recently a craft cocktail bartender at a fast paced restaurant in the heart of Waikiki. I’m taking a hiatus from lives gone by during this unprecedented time to realign with my creative side while practicing slow living and sharing my thoughts with you on Spells of Wylde. Thank you from the bottom of my heart for stopping by.

Spells of Wylde

Spells of Wylde transpired from an urge to curate a space on the internet just for you and me – a little place we can gather to slow down, sip on some tea and remember what life is all about. For a long time, a need for anything more than work, sleep, paycheck, repeat, felt selfish and undeserved – that is until I realized I wasn’t the only one. Millions of supporters of the slow living lifestyle long to steer away from the fast-paced lifestyles built around a “more is better” and “faster is better” perspective.

Spells of Wylde is the realization that we could all benefit from living more intentionally, by aligning our work and lives with our values and passions. This is a blog for those who yearn for solace from the bustling world. For those who seek to turn inward, live mindfully, reconnect with nature, have time to do the things they love, and spend quality time with those they love. When I discovered the slow living and intentional living movement I knew I needed to share my journey, my writings, and photography with kindred souls like you. I hope you find yourself at home here and that we can journey together toward a more fulfilling life.
